Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!!!!

It doesn't feel like Christmas here other than the fact that there is snow on the ground and Christmas lights all around. Christmas to me normally means spending time with family, but I guess these next two will be a little different.Reading your emails today made me cry!...and laugh. So I was laughing through the tears. It's impossible to put into words how much I miss all of you. It's only been 6 days but it feels like an eterntity.

The MTC has been awesome! I LOVE my companion, Sister Ryan. She is perfect for me!! She likes to work out, eat healthy, and be on time! What more could I ask for? She doesn't eat any sweets which is the complete opposite of me but it keeps me in check because I don't want to be the fatty companion who gets two or three desserts every meal. My district has 7 elders and 4 sisters and we all get along SO well! After day two it's like we were all best friends and had known each other for years. That will happen when you spend 15 hours with the same people every day. I am very fortunate, though, because I'm loving it here. It's very structured, but I'm okay with that.

Learning Portuguese is the best. The pronunciation is harder than Spanish but it's coming along. I cannot believe how much I have learned since Wednesday!! Knowing Spanish already has been such a blessing. I get most excited about our language portion of study each day.

I've been writing you all letters and they say pretty much the exact same thing as this email, fair warning. Oh yeah, at the MTC we are supposed to refer to each other as "elder" and "sister" but I keep slipping up and saying "you guys" or "dude" haha. It's a work in progress. The elders are so cute and polite!! They rush to open the doors for us and clear our trays after meals. People say thank you and you're welcome in whatever language they're learning so I'll hear it in a ton of different languages every day. I have taken to saying "obrigada" and "de nada" (in Portuguese the de is pronounced like "gee").

Tuesdays are my p-day but since it's Christmas the schedule is all messed up so I won't have as much free time today. I miss you all so so so much. I think about each of you every single day and imagine the day I'm home with you again. I'm grateful to be at the Provo MTC because I feel closer to you and mail doesn't take as long :) I know this is where I'm supposed to be.

Have a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS! The next time I email it will be next year! So have a happy new year!

PS. We taught our first "investigator" on Friday. He's a member who acts as an investigator, but it feels so real! And get this...we had to teach it in Portuguese!! It went well though. Trial by fire at this place. They just throw you into a situation, but it's good. We've had three lessons with him now and each time our Portuguese has improved so much!
